To start it out, my firm's using a home-brew threaded server that looks a lot like what Informix 6.0 is supposed to be when it gets out. We have several thousand canned queries in a massive ESQL/C program and run 12-16 copies of the program. All applications talk to the API using message queues and flat_files for results. This lets us run lots of users against the database without burdening the system with too many back-ends. This monster was developed in QUELL on Ingres several years ago and converted two years ago to Informix. The client programs talk to the servers through c-language calls. Anybody else using such homebrew servers or middleware? -- =========================================================================== jlumbley@netcom.com (Joe Lumbley) "If you believe that my statements Database Administrator represent my company, please send The Tigon Corporation money and I'll send you stock" Dallas, Texas ===========================================================================
