dbload and -X option

I'm trying to load data dumped from a MS SQL Server database into an Informix one. This is being done via ASCII flat files produced by SQL Server's 'bcp' utility. The problem is that some of the text data has embedded CR's and LF's. Is there any way to preserve these on the DBLOAD using the -X option? If so, what so I need to change the the CR's and LF's in the flat file to so that DBLOAD knows that these are embedded in a column and not the end-of-row in the ASCII file? Any help is appreciated.
