Problems with Bindings using PB 5.x and Informix

Hi! I am having a problem with bindings in my PB 5.x application with an Informix Online 5.03 running on an AIX box. If anyone can help I would really appreciate. Here is the problem scenario: Experiencing problem with database binding in a PB5 16-bit environment using Informix and I-NET database driver. In a form view, the user is allowed to add a new record, specify initial values, save the record, modify the record, and then save again. When binding is enabled, the initial save (sql insert) succeeds, but follow-up saves (sql update) fail and return a -3 sql code (data changed between retrieval and update). Binding is required for this application because the master table contains a data field longer than 255 characters, and sql statements cannot contain long quoted strings. Binding is the workaround for this limitation. The problem may be compounded because the master datawindow is using the PFC multitable service to manage a join between the master table and a detail table. The where clause includes all updateable fields to support a multi-user system. If the user returns to the master list, the same error is reported when attempting to delete a master record. It is necessary to retrieve from the database in order to continue. If the user starts the application and immediately deletes or modifies a record, no error occurs. Once the user performs an insert into the master table, something becomes "corrupted" until data is reretrieved. Since the actual data values are not viewable, I cannot trace the sql. Can anyone help me with this situation? Thanks in advance, Tony. Anthony M.
