Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.

IBM has a similar Gateway product that runs whereever IDS runs and can talk
to Oracle servers both local and remote. Contact IBM about the Informix
Enterprise Gateway.

The Enterprise gateway manager
(http://www-306.ibm.com/software/data/informix/tools/egm/) provides
connectivity to non Informix DBs. You can use this in direct mode..
Informix ESQL/C app -> gateway -> Oracle Db or in distributed mode
Informix ESQL/C App-> Informix server -> gateway -> Oracle DB.
Please check online documentation for further details.

Enterprise Gateway Manager doesn't need to be on the same machine as the database. You could set it up on a windoze box.
