Yes, raw space is significantly faster. To do this:
1) bring the engine down: onmode -ky
2) copy the rootdbs file to the raw device:
dd if=/datafs/rootdbs of=/dev/rdsk/sd2d bs=2k count={rootsize in pages}
3) delete or rename filesystem copy of rootdbs or remove the symbolic
link you used for ROOTPATH in $ONCONFIG
4) link the ROOTPATH name from $ONCONFIG to the raw device as a
symbolic link:
ln -s /dev/rdsk/sd2d /datafs/rootdbs
That should do it.
