Hi, I wonder what does it mean "Txns blocked" in output of online log. For example: 16:47:53 Checkpoint Statistics - Avg. Txn Block Time 0.000, # Txns blocked 1, Plog used 1731, Llog used 1214 If Txns blocked=1 and Txn Block Time = 0.00 this info should really be called a transaction blocked ? Is it possible has, for example Txns blocked = 10 and Txn Block Time = 0.00 and it would not be any problem ? My environment is 11.70FC8W1 Thanks in advance. Roger
This means that 1 transaction has been blocked by the checkpoint (which is acceptable). Important data is how long the transaction has been blocked: if you see more than a few seconds, you probably have performance issues with your checkpoints and must address them. Once is acceptable, regularly is not acceptable. FYI, "when I had more and darker hair", ALL the transactions were blocked during the whole duration of the checkpoint. At some point in time (V9.30 maybe or slightly later) the checkpoint became fuzzy and did not block all the transactions, thus enhancing a lot the checkpoint performance. Hope this helps
