Yes they do, but my database insert about 10 000 records a hour, can i restore that especific records? if you have a test server you could look to restore the archive on the test server and UNLOAD from there the rows you require and then replace them back on the production system Guedes wrote: > Yes they do, but my database insert about 10 000 records a hour, can i > restore that especific records? > > > Thx > > scottishpoet escreveu: > > Guedes wrote: > > > Hi, i've made a delete of 43 rows without using the roolback, is there > > > any chance to undo or recover the deleted rows?? > > > > > > Thx > > > > did the rows exist at the time of a most recent backup up? > > > > if so recover the data from your archive

IFF you were not inserting new data it MIGHT be possible to read the deleted rows from disk with a custom program. I described the required steps in my Internals presentation in Denver in 2005. Not easy but theoretically doable. Alas you are inserting new data and that's most likely overwritten the deleted rows' space. If you have a copy of IDS 10.00 (even if this instance is NOT 10.00) and you have a valid archive containing the deleted rows, you can use the archecker delivered with 10.00 (earlier archecker versions did not support this) to extract the deleted rows and either add them back to the table or insert them to some holding table for review. As long as you can identify the deleted rows using SQL (and since you were able to delete them I assume you can) archecker can restore them. Although it is delivered with IDS 10.00 I believe archecker can read archive files from most earlier releases. John Miller will certainly step in if I'm wrong about that. If you do not have (and cannot get) a copy of IDS 10.00 (or at least 10's archecker version) then the Poet's suggestion of restoring the archive to another machine is the only recourse. Art S.
