Informix 7 on Solaris vs. Linux

Greetings all. We're currently running Informix 7.30.UC5-1 on Solaris 2.6 (SunOS 5.6). As part of our rollout plan, we are faced with some costly upgrades to our Sun E250 - $5-6K for a second CPU, more disk (not a problem), as well as a possible purchase of one or more additional Sun boxes to act as a hot backup, replication, etc. An internal proposal has been made to investigate running Informix under Linux Red Hat 6.0, since the hardware can be substantially less expensive. Without going into a great deal of technical detail, is there anyone out there who has made (or attempted to make) this transition who could comment on the relative reliability and performance?
