Platform : Solaris 10, Sparc IDS Version : 10.FC3 OR 10.FC5 Business Purpose : OLTP We are planning to use ER between 2 Solaris machines - we can choose either IDS 10.FC3 on both machines or 10.FC5 on both machines. Any thoughts on which version is more solid or better suited for ER? Would anyone recommend other versions? I considered IDS 11 but it seems a little too early to jump into. Thanks in advance.

We have had the odd infrequent crash assert failure with 10.00.xC3 (we administer dozens of servers) and are upgrading all our customers for this reason. Wouldn't you expect a later fix pack to be generally more reliable though? IDS 10.00.xC7 is available too and no problems so far. IDS 11 - generally impressed but I have tested 11.10.FC1 and had a number of minor issues with non-crashing assert failures. Technical support calls have been raised. I am now retesting with 11.10.FC2 for our purposes to see if these problems have been fixed. I don't know how relevant our experience is to your set up. Ben.
