CMVC release exporting

We are running on RISC6000's under AIX in an Informix delevelopment environment. I am trying to migrate our current SCCS change-control system to CMVC. I am having trouble exporting releases to any directories except /tmp, which I do not want to use. I would like to establish a directory, say /cmvc to hold the release, but when I try to export the release I get the error: 0010-325 The CMVC server cannot mount directory /cmvc from node <hostname> to perform the remote extraction. /cmvc has it's permissions wide open and is exported (in /etc/exports) so I am at a loss.
