character based user interface.

Hi I'm looking for a good character based user interface package. I would prefer source code package but would not be adverse to a good commercial package - if it meets my/our needs. The application is this: I have an ordering program which uses an Informix 5.0 database. The user interface (and database interface) is provided by a package called JAM. We are taking the application to a different architecture (no JAM) and an object-oriented DBMS (Informix Universal Server). I know Informix has a 4gl which provides user interface tools but I don't know whether it supports all the new features of Universal Server. - Anybody know? We can use embedded SQL or 3rd generation API's for the database interface. What I'm interested in here is recommendations on a reasonably good Character based interface.
