RE: ontape vs onbar

Ontape is rock solid whether the database is active or not. I have used it
to backup my database every night for over 5 years with only one restoration
problem (in v5.03). we run a 24x7 operation so the database is active the
entire time. Unlike some database archive mechanisms ontape (and onbar) are
specifically designed to take a 'snapshot in time' archive which is totally
consistent with the system in use (anything less would be worth the disk it
was stored on). If you have a problem restoring archive using ontape you
need to raise a call.
