Check out Paul's comments on consistency. Dbcopy has no way to guarantee
internal consistency between tables so as Paul and Dirk point out plan on
using downtime for the copy. Also, vis Paul's methodology, note that my
dbschema replacement, myschema, will optionally separate the CREATE TABLE
DDL from the indexes and constraints into separate files (and optionally an
additional file containing UPDATE STATISTICS statements needed to replicate
the source server's levels of stats). That can be helpful.
