But does this assume that both the source and target databases exist prior to conversion. What if we are migrating from Oracle to Informix, and we dont have an Informix database yet. Will the tools create the Informix schema file, which I can then use to create the Informix database and tables and other objects? Thanks in advance. Some sort of CASE tool that handles Entity-Relationship (ER) modelling would be appropriate. The two that spring to mind are ErWin and PowerDesignor DataArchitect (the latter from Sybase), but there are others. These will take a Database creation script from one database, reverse engineer it into an ER model, then you can select a different database system, and create the appropriate sql file. You can even connect to your servers using ODBC, and generate the model/create the database without going via script files. I think you can get 30 day demos of both of these. To answer your question, yes, both tools I mentioned will create the sql file that will create your database in Informix. Richard. PS Please could you stop posting in HTML? Thanks.
