Just replace the ^M character,
with PERL it is so easy :
perl -pi -e's/\\015$//' file
and that's it.
Am sure you have perl installed,
almost every unix does .
If it is not on your PATH,
search it on : /usr/bin
or /usr/local/bin

Yes, that's the PC standard end of line CR+LF. The LF doesn't show up in
vi, because it is expecting that, the CR on the other hand is not expected
and is drawn as a CTRL-M (^M).
