I wish somebody from the Informix Documentation group would step in here. Somebody else has already mentioned the existing electronic version of the Online manual but I seem to remember sombody from Informix doing an email survey on this issue. No results were ever posted but I assume some decisions were made on the basis of this. Informix could you let everybody know what the results and decisions were? I too would like to see electronic manuals. I have some problems with the concept though. Currently I have 15 Informix manuals on my shelf which I reference at different times. They take up between 18" and 2' putting all of these online would probably take up considerable disk space. Providing them on CD-ROM is also a nice idea but then instead of picking a manual of the shelf and flipping pages I have to load the CD drive and spin it up. Plus with this option and a group of users you have to have a CD drive dedicated to it. Lastly and assuming that all documentation would be made available on a single CD, at the rate new releases of all the Informix documentation get produced we would be continually paying for CD upgrades. Question would Informix consider making documentation available for lookup and download via the WWW server they are installing? Cheers - Jim My opinions are my own.
