-952 error on MP-Ras 3.0 (ncr)

Hi, I get a strange error using a specific esql/c syntax connecting to Online dynamic server 7.23 on ncr machine(MP-Ras 3.0). Here are the details: When I execute a esql/c program locally on the machine where ODS is installed, using the syntax: EXEC SQL connect to :db_env USER :db_user USING :db_password; where db_env=databasename@dbservername db_user=username connecting to the database db_password=password of the user connecting to the database. I get an error of -952 (password unknown to the database server). The same syntax works on other platforms(HP, solaris, aix and digital) but not on ncr. Our machine uses NIS and everything seems to be right with the password issue. Any ideas and suggestions. Thanks in advance, Anitha
