I think you missunderstood my comment. I meant to remove the port
number in the sqlhosts file and replace with the name that you have in
the /etc/services. YOu do not need root privileges to do that. You
can do it as informix user.
The changes I am talking about are on the client in the sqlhosts file.
That is all. (see below in red)
