Telnet keyboard mapping

Hi, I have started to use PCNFS v5.0 and telnet to connect PCs to an Informix RDS application running on a Sun SS2 and have experienced problems in mapping the extended PC keyboard keys for delete and insert. Has anyone solved this problem? The telnet is emulating a VT100 terminal. All I want to do is set the insert key to be Control-A and the delete key to be Control-X. Any suggestions welcome.
