Hello, In the past I've always installed all products under the INFORMIXDIR directory structure... I'm doing a new install of v9.40fc8 and want to break out the tools, esql cobol, and sdk from the engine ... I realize I can look this up somewhere, but was hoping somebody could save me the time ... What are the environment variables that are needed to make this work ... Thanks for the help in advance ... Peter

INFORMIXDIR - and PATH and LD_LIBRARY_PATH. If you get fancy, then things like INFORMIXSQLHOSTS too. The only time it gets tricky is if the people meant to be using the tools also need to run the occasional server program (typically DB-Access or the DB-* tools, or ON-Stat). In that case, use an environment setting shell script called DB-Access in the tools $INFORMIXDIR/bin which sets the environment to the server $INFORMIXDIR and then runs the server DB-Access. -- Jonathan Leffler #include <disclaimer.h> Email: jleffler@earthlink.net, jleffler@us.ibm.com Guardian of DBD::Informix v2005.02 -- http://dbi.perl.org/
