Installation of ID 9.1.4

Hi, I am trying to install IDS 9.1.4 on a Solaris 2.6 box. Using raw devices for the root dbspace. Installation went on fine but when it came to oninit -i I get the error message - root dbspace not owned by userId Informixand group Informix. As suggested somewhere in the Admin. Guide - I have a Unix file system file point to the raw device. This file is owned by Informix (same group). Why then is it complaining - I have never used raw devices before - only cooked files.
