Mawlawi, (Gender neutral.. ;-) Every page in an OnLine system has a 2-part address: a 12-bit chunk number and a 20-bit page number within that chunk. This implies that the maximum number of pages in a chunk is 1,048,576 pages. The page may be 2K or 4K. So if you have an AIX machine (with a 4-K Informix page) the liimitation is about 4-gig per chunk. Not too bad, IMO. That you are using it for a blobspace is not relevant to this limitation. There used to be a bug that allowed you to define a chunk larger than this number; I don't know if this has been fixed. I also do not know how this limit will be affected by 64-bit ports of the Informix product line.
