I don't think is dbaccess that does this but it is the tbtape command
that allows you to turn logging on and off. The tbtape -s -B database
name for buffered logging. tbtape -N databasename for no logging and
tbtape -s -U for unbuffered logging. You can turn logging off without
an actual backup but to turn logging on you must actually do a level 0
backup. The tbtape -s -B databasename will prompt you for the level
archive and to mount the tape unless you are going to /dev/null. You
can put this is a script using control M for carriage returns. The
tbtape -s -U databasename works exactly the same as the -B option.
One thing to keep in mind is this function must be able to get and
exclusive lock on the database or it will fail.
Hope this helps
