NT Sucks. And Stop exaggerating. NT doesn't have enough performance to suck. I have been forced to use it in a couple client sites, running Progress DBMS. We get 3-10X the performance running SCO unix on the same h/ware configuration, and this is all client-server stuff, so both boxes are doing nothing but DBMS stuff. Except, of course, you can easily remotely administer the unix box, its backup media (tar/DAT tapes) are portable across machines etc etc. Anyone who uses NT as a DBMS platform for any database above the trivial in size and importance deserves all the problems they get. And *don't* get me started on Progress! I'm just designing a nice, new database system and have a free hand for server, clients and o/s. Clients are a bit debatable, but it'll certainly be Informix as the server, running on unix. Peter Wiley
