onspaces -d dbs_temp -y
This should drop the temp dbspace. As indicated below, you cannot drop the
first chunk of a dbspace. This chunk contains reserved pages, chunk free
list, etc.... but you can drop the entire dbspace by using the command
above.

Thanks for your suggestion Clifford - here is the result of that command:
$onspaces -d dbs_temp -p /export/home/informix/dbspaces/link_disk3_1 -o 100
WARNING: Dropping a chunk.
Do you really want to continue? (y/n)y
Chunk not dropped.
ISAM error: Can not drop first chunk

if onspaces -d dbs_temp -y does not work and
onstat -d shows it...
There was a bug that one could not drop a dbspace because
in the sys res pages it was a bit mucked up; eq there was an
unexpected whitespace or something else..
i suggest you contact techsupport and have them look at it.
i guess they ask you for a oncheck -pr
and may be a dump or dd of your sys reserved pages where this
dbspace resides.
if you can reproduce this in 9.4xx then i guess its a new bug??
where reproduce is
create space
drop space.
