poll-threads on NT
Posted in 1999
Hi all, currently I am involved with a customer that runs 7.30TC3 on Windows NT. Please read on... When I specify multiple poll-threads by means of the NETTYPE parameter (in the NET class of course on NT, since I have no other choice), I see things which I am not used to see on a UNIX box: 1. the listen thread that runs in a CPUVP (soctcplst since I use soctcp) 2. something what I used to think is a poll thread: soctcppoll (runs in a NETVP) 3. for each poll-thread specified in NETTYPE, a NETVP in which a single thread called soctcpio runs. This soctcpio thread is unknown for me.What is its function and how does it relate to the soctcppoll and soctcplst ? I have no idea. Since the configuration of the poll-threads is very important concerning performance when there are a lot of client connections, I am really troubled.(I am involved in solving Informix performance problems in a BAAN environment) I hope anybody can help Guy Bukenbergs Vanenburg Optimization Solutions Frankrijklei 121 2000 Antwerpen, Belgium Office (reception): +32 3 232 54 30 Fax: +32 3 226 33 38
