ontape back-up/restore to remote device
Posted in 1997
I'm running OnLine 7.13 on Solaris 2.5. I'm playing around with
back-ups to a remote DLT. I'm a bit green in this area as I usually do
back-ups to disk.
On UNIX server ubrs04 In my $ONCONFIG I have TAPEDEV set to
ubns07:/dev/rmt/0n. All the rsh set up is OK, and an ontape -s writes
happily to the remote DLT on ubns07. When I come to do a restore with
ontape -r, the header information is read back correctly from the tape, but then the restore fails thus:
Continue restore? (y/n)
Do you want to back up the logs? (y/n)n
Physical restore failed - function read archive backup failed code 1
errno 0
Does anyone know why, and what can be done? I'll be quite happy to be
put out of my misery with a succinct RTFM - plus page reference!
Thanks
