External tables and pipes

Aix 6.1 IDS 11.70.fc6 In doing some testing with an external table (63M) rows .. I'm finding that a single pipe is faster than multiple pipes ... PDQ is turned on, however this particular table isn't fragmented ... The question ... has anyone experience with multiple pipes .. and have they noticed better performance with a single pipe? This system is also configured with 2 PIO VP's .. and I'm the only one doing any sort of pipe stuff ... 1 pipe = 43 seconds 2 pipes = 57 seconds 4 pipes = 1 minute, 20 seconds Thanks ...
