Hi Gurus (Art ?), We use compiler C for AIX Version 6. We have some problems compiling programs with the following flags on makefile : c4gl -std -shared -q64 Is that OK, where can we find flag's documentation ? Some programs compile fine, but other have errors problems like : ld: 0711-317 ERROR: Undefined symbol: .retint ld: 0711-317 ERROR: Undefined symbol: .popquote ld: 0711-317 ERROR: Undefined symbol: .retquote ld: 0711-345 Use the -bloadmap or -bnoquiet option to obtain more information. make: 1254-004 The error code from the last command is 8 Apparently it refers to a c file which wouldn't have a #include statement. But these 4gl programs don't have ' link with a c file. Any idea will be welcome. Cheers, Olmedo Monteverde, Lausanne, Switzerland

You are what version using? In 7.31 or 32 is new thing in release notes. Names of retint and others have change. -- Enor
Hi Enor, We use 7.32FC2 Version OM "Enor P" <enor_1@hotmail.com> a 'crit dans le message de news:2ib5fnFl3t5vU2@uni-berlin.de... > Olmedo Monteverde wrote: > > > Hi Gurus (Art ?), > > > > We use compiler C for AIX Version 6. > > > > We have some problems compiling programs with the following flags on > > makefile : > > > > c4gl -std -shared -q64 > > > > Is that OK, where can we find flag's documentation ? > > > > Some programs compile fine, but other have errors problems like : > > ld: 0711-317 ERROR: Undefined symbol: .retint > > ld: 0711-317 ERROR: Undefined symbol: .popquote > > ld: 0711-317 ERROR: Undefined symbol: .retquote > > ld: 0711-345 Use the -bloadmap or -bnoquiet option to obtain more > > information. > > make: 1254-004 The error code from the last command is 8 > > > > Apparently it refers to a c file which wouldn't have a #include statement. > > But these 4gl programs don't have ' link with a c file. > > You are what version using? Since in a later post you say you're using 7.32, the answer is to revise your C (or ESQL/C) code files that interface with I4GL so that they include the line: #include "fglsys.h" and recompile them. Those symbols have been renamed, but the header maps the old names to the new ones. As the large mouse said, this is in the release notes - or should be. I see that you disavow having any such files (C or ESQL/C) in your system. Frankly, I don't believe you on the basis of the evidence shown, though you may not be aware of it. You can disprove my hypothesis by establishing where there are references to those function names - maybe the -bnoquiet option would report which object files or libraries contain the references, but failing that, the 'nm' command run on the object files would do so. Have you tried compiling without the '-std' option?
