I have often tried to do the same thing through ESQL/C. There is no load sql statement command given in our reference of 4.0. nor listed in any reference structure or include file I can find. I'm not sure why informix did not include this sql statement as part of ESQL/C for us people who like to interactively use ESQL, but this has been a pain. For my applications I end up building a .sql load file and calling it from the ESQL/C program. For your situation not having sql installed - I say good luck!!
