OnBar experiences with BMC/Legato/SCH dBRZ/Other
Posted in 1998
I'm currently looking at implementing OnBar with a third party backup product and would appreciate users experiences and problems! I've been to the websites for BMC (SQL-BackTrack), Legato, and SCH (Reelbackup and dBRZ/Informix) and have all the sales-blurb, but would like to know how they match up in real life. The SQL-BackTrack from BMC seems to offer some nice features, how well does it interface with Legato, (and/or Omniiback and IBM's ADSM). Our site is mainly HP 9000 (K460, K220, D350 and a E55) with HP AutoRaid and some Model 20 arrays. Tape devices (DLT's) located on each machine but we may go for a centralised backup machine ... Our production instance is currently around 10Gb in size and growing (it should be approximately 15-20Gb by the end of next year), with another 15Gb in our three test instances. Anyone using Informix 7.3 and the bundled backup software (which I think is from Legato)? I take it that it's bundled as part of Informix Online and not at extra cost? Many thanks.... -- Simon Barber
