Plexus TIFF SUN Front-end and Printer/FAX Support

Hi, Sorry if this is related to a FAQ and for the cross-posting, but I wasn't sure where best to post this, so here goes. First a little background: Plexus is a document imaging product that runs on SUN and a variety of other UNIX back-ends, and traditionally runs with Microsoft Windows PC front-ends, PC printers, and PC FAX modems. It is derived from Informix source code and works with the latest versions of Informix Online for storing BLOBS (ie large binary images) into a database. We need to be able at a minimum to deal with Group 3 TIFF, and preferably Group 4 TIFF as well. Does anyone have any experience and/or recommendation for: 1) Printing Plexus TIFF images on a printer on a SUN (eg SPARCprinter). This may involve converting Plexus implementation of TIFF files into postscript, SUN raster, or something else that NEWSprint supports. 2) Integrating Plexus TIFF images into some of the more popular commercial UNIX front-end products such as Aster*x from Applix, Frame Maker, etc. Note that although Aster*x supports TIFF, it currently has trouble with Group 3 TIFF files created by Plexus. It has been said that this problem will be fixed in the next version (ie 1993), but we need a workaround now. 3) Using Aster*x ELF Macros to pull out and display any kind of image data out of an Informix Database? 4) Sending and/or receiving FAXes using Plexus TIFF images and/or any kind of Informix BLOBs? Any recommendation on any of the more popular FAX software that runs on SUN (eg ISOFAX from the Bristol Group or Perfect Fax from ther Perfect Byte) in terms of TIFF? 5) What's the best PD conversion software that will take any one image format and convert to any other? What's the best commercial one? Can this package seemlessly allow integration with queries 1 to 4 above? One company that was mentioned is called "Hands-on-Software" - has anyone any information on reaching them? For PD, anonymous FTP locations would be fabulous. 6) Ideally, it is desirable to be able to integrate the traditional Plexus PC front-end users with SUN workstation and X Terminal Plexus front-end users. Anything that would help with this simultanous access by these different front-ends? Ideas and/or thoughts on any one (or all) of the above queries would be greatly appreciated. Please e-mail any comments, and I will post a summary if there is interest. Thanks in advance.
