Nguyen, Setting up a raw device is a matter of using the Solaris format utility. If you haven't used it before maybe try and have a chat with Sun or a Unix SA. It's not difficult but if you don't know exactly what you are doing the potential for disaster is considerable and labelling the wrong disk could be career limiting Assuming though, you are using a new machine with no existing data then you will need to use the following commands # format di (select disk) this will show disk info in the form cntndn (remember this as you'll use it later) pa (partition information) pr (print) mo (modify disk as desired starting slice 0 from cylinder 1, taking care not to touch slice 2 ) la (label - this overwrites any existing data on the disk so be sure about this one) pr (print again to confirm change) q (quit) According to how you have sliced you will now have raw partitions ready for use for that are referenced by cntndnsn. This will need to be changed to owner informix:informix , modes 660 and referenced usually by a symbolic link which is how Informix will refer to it thereafter Rgds Paul Matthews Nguyen Trieu <trieu@abac.com> on 04/11/98 07:20:40 Please respond to trieu@abac.com To: informix-list@iiug.org cc: (bcc: Paul'ITID' Matthews/CHASE) Subject: RAW DEVICE Hello All, I am new in Informix.
