I read that the parameters (DD_HASHSIZE * DD_HASHMAX) should be greater than
the estimated number of active tables in all databases for performance
gains. Where the heck are these parameters? They are not in the onconfig
file. Environment variables? Maybe. Any ideas? Also, what's a good way
to estimate the number of active tables?

I'm running 7.30.UC3...
You can set these in the onconfig file.
DD_HASHSIZE sets the number of lists
DD_HASHMAX sets the allowable max size of each list
The list a particular table gets put into is based on just its name,
nothing to do with the database it's in, so consider that when you're
looking at the number of tables you want to have cached.
You can find out what list a table will go into by...
onstat -g dic <tablename> | grep "hashes to list"(or it seems to be a simple checksum of the characters in the name so
you can work it out)
I've tried to minimise DD_HASHMAX while getting all my tables into the
cache. This should minimise the time searching down the list after the
initial hashing has been done....
