Multiple OnLine Instances

When creating multiple instances (2) on an 8 CPU Sun Enterprise 4000 running Informix 7.23.UC1 would one split the number of CPU's assigned in each configuration file or would it still be a good practice to give each instance all CPU's on this dedicated database server?
