raw chunks on Unixware 7.0.1???
Posted in 1999
HI all, I am hoping someone out there can help me out. I am having a problem installing INFORMIX with RAW chunks on a Unixware (SCO Unix) 7.0.1 system. This Machine is a Compaq Prolient with a SMART ARRAY 3200 configured as RAID 5. The Raw chunks have been created by the SMART ARRAY software and can be seen by Unixware as raw devices. But when I try to assign a raw device to the "rootdbs" of informix it gives the error "Chunk does not fit in the space provided" even though the raw volume contains 1 GB and I am only trying to create a 20 MB rootdbs. THERE IS NO SUCH PROBLEM WHEN USING COOKED FILES. Is there a problem with the way raw devices have been created ? (How should they be created ?) or else is it any other problem. I get this error for all raw chunks created this way. The details of the machine are as follows, Machine : Compaq Prolient 5000 OS: Unixware 7.0.1 Informix: IDS Workgroup Server 7.3 uc2-1 RAID: Smart Array 3200 configured for RAID 5 Processor: Intel PIII (dual) Aplogies for the long message. Would appriciate any suggestions, help in this regard Thanks In Advance Mario __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Bid and sell for free at http://auctions.yahoo.com
