clustering problem
Posted in 1998
I'm running ODS 7.23 on an IBM SP FRAME running AIX 4.1. I am
trying to create a cluster index on a table that contains a column
which will hold an image. The blob will be stored in a blobspace as
opposed of being stored in the TBLspace. The definition of the
table is like
Create table T1
(
col1_pk serial not null,
col2_int integer not null,
col3_date date,
col4_blob byte in blobsp1,
col5_datetime datetime,
) in dbs1;
Where blobsp1 is a blob space of 1 page blobs (4K for AIX).
There is amble space in dbs1 and blobsp1 ( 10x more than
what is currently used / allocated). Both dbs1 and blobsp1
are used by only one table, T1.
When I try to create a cluster index with the following stmt:
Create Cluster Index on T1 (col1_pk, col2_int) in dbs1;
I get an error 502 (not enough space to create cluster index) when
I execute this stmt in dbaccess. Where am I running out of
space? /tmp still has about 20 MB free.
The table contains about 300 rows. My tempdbspace is comprised of
a series of eight 8 MB temp dbspaces.
When I drop the blob column (blob4_blob), I can create the index.
When I delete all the rows from T1, I can create the index. But when
there is data, I cannot successfully create a cluster index. Even
when I set the blob column (col4_blob) to null, I still get the same
error.
Is there a limitation on creating a cluster index on a table with
a column defined as BYTE?
Your help is appreciated.
Steve.
