We are developing C/ESQL apps for multiple platforms for the state of CA and insist on ANSI standard C for portability (ANSI X3J11). Under SCO the flag is "-ansi", under OSF/1 the flag is "-std1". I don't have the flags for the SUN compiler at my desk, but we have ported to SOLARIS 2.x (also BSDI386, DG's Unix, Motorola RISC platforms, etc.). While I don't necessarily think Informix is the best RDBMS around, it has proven to very portable.
