My understanding is that it and a lot of other things are just plain broken right now as they try to tune the SMP stuff. Linus is on a big kick to get SMP performance to where he thinks it can be (which, of course, is far beyond anyone else's numbers.) I'd guess it will be working again in a few months. For those unfamiliar with the numbering scheme for Linux kernels, 2.1 is a development kernel (you can tell because 1 is an odd number: 2.0 = stable, 1.3 = development, 1.2 = stable, etc.) It's not intended for people to run in the course of everyday usage, so things break in it all the time. Eventually they put them back together again. -- Todd Graham Lewis Linux! Core Engineering MindSpring Enterprises tlewis@mindspring.net (800) 719 4664, x2804
