Stefan,
I don't think you have to worry about the delimiter char being the
same character you have in your columns. We use the pipe (|) symbol
in a number of our columns to signal underlined text. When I do an
unload, Informix automatically escapes my pipe, and leaves the pipe
as delimiter untouched, e.g.
|\\|Blood Wedding\\||
(Our default delimiter is the pipe.)
