Re: How much OT/holidays do dba's work?

I work at an internet travel agency -- and all my (planned) downtime is at 3:00am. However, this is almost always due to new development features that require alterations to the database. Informix has been quite stable in a very rapidly growing data base. The biggest hit I feel is the unavailability to try tuning parameters that require an engine bounce (this is a minimum of 1/2 hour downtime -- informix takes 2 minutes but we have to re-boot 9 NT boxes to re-establish the ODBC connections). I don't get comp time and I do have fond memories of a manufacturing environment where everyone went home at night -- but on the other hand this business (travel) is sure a lot more fun.
