OpenSuse 11.3 and IDS 11.50.FC7TL
Posted in 2010
Hallo,
i have a question concerning OpenSuse 11.3 and IDS:
OpenSuSe 11.2 works fine with IDS 11.50.FC5TL, no Problems.
But OpenSuSe 11.3 does not: neither IDS 11.50.FC5TL nor IDS 11.50.FC7TL
can generate DBSpaces
(based an raw-devices, i.e. logical volumes) without KAIOOFFF=1.
If onspaces is executed in a SHELL without KAIOOFFF=1, then the logfile
will contain
the following message:
------------------------------------------------------------------------
19:11:56 Assert Warning: I/O error, Primary Chunk
'/db/inf/dev/stieff/otto_001' -- Offline
19:11:56 IBM Informix Dynamic Server Version 11.50.FC7TL

File: rsmirror.c Line: 1795
19:11:56 Results: Dynamic Server will block at next checkpoint
19:11:56 Action: Shutdown (onmode -k) or override (onmode -O)
------------------------------------------------------------------------
The only method to live with this constraint is to shutdown IDS every
time you want to manage
DBSpaces, start IDS with KAIOOFF=1, make some changes with onspaces,
then shutdown again
and start IDS without KAIOOFF=1.
Another mysterious property of OpenSuse 11.3 together with IDS
11.50.FC7TL is the fact,
that owner and group of temporary dbspaces are changed (from
informix:informix to root:disk) after start, so that you see in the
message logfile:
------------------------------------------------------------------------
07:58:24 The chunk '/db/inf/dev/stieff/temp2_001' must have owner-ID
"informix" and group-ID "informix"
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Who can help?
