It seems pretty comprehensive, works over a LAN, etc. They still advertise, so it would be worth looking them out. I gather license software can be troublesome. I had to write a restart daemon for FLEXlm to spot when it falls over and restart it. It wouldn't be too difficult to write your own as you don't need security, only an adding machine. An off the top of head design: Call a shell script to lock a file, read the count, check it's below the limit, increment it and return an exit code to the application, which then runs or not. You might need fancier stuff to guard against applications which die without decrementing the count. A record of the process ID plus a clean-up daemon might do the trick. -- Peter Lancashire Information Systems Specialist, Bayer plc Eastern Way, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, IP32 7AH, UK Tel: +44-1635-562258, Fax: +44-1635-562281 --- If all else fails, read the instructions AND the release notes.
