Ofer - I'd suggest as a crude rule of thumb: Go with 5.x if: - you run on uniprocessors - need to minimize cost - don't expect to grow into multiprocessors - Go with 7.x or greater if: - you run on SMP's or MPP's (or expect to soon) - Want to stay current with all that implies (support, enhancement etc...) Ooooh - I just remembered a biggie for us between 5.x and 7.x - under 5.x, the IP communications requires all IP addresses of clients that might connect to be in the /etc/hosts if I remember right. 7.x doesn't require this - this alone was good enough reason for us to migrate.
