Welcome to the world of STUCK FAST RECOVERY ... This is a known "bug" of Informix where if logical logs are about to be fully consumed, the rollback begins. If just then the client is killed, OnLine is rendered into an inconsistant state. The recovery.... will never stop. Informix will (after getting signed non-disclosure from you) sign on to your machine, patch some bits & will bring the system back into stable mode. I have faced this problem on more than one occassion and I have been asked to wait for version 5.0 where HIGHT_WATER settings can solve this problem.
