Danny (Fidelity Soft & Hard) asked whether an ODBC driver exists for C-ISAM files used by C programs with no database. LJ suggested Byte Designs' D-ISAM, which has an ODBC product. Paul Brown mentioned a beta C-ISAM DataBlade from Informix. Allan Gould offered SCO SQL-Retriever via Informix SE; Art S. Kagel mocked this as a hammer-and-nail pitch, and Allan Gould conceded. No single solution was confirmed.

Hi everyone,
Does anyone knows if there is a ODBC version to work with C-Isam files.
C-Isam files threated by c-programs. There is no database involved.
Thanks,
Danny

Well, there was a beta announcement recently from IFMX about a
'C-ISAM' DataBlade. This thing takes a UDO engine, and allows you
to surface the C-ISAM data as tables in the schema. You can do
SELECT and write queries against it, database procedures, blah blah
blah.

You could try our ODBC driver: SCO SQL-Retriever: will work with C-ISAM
via an Informix SE (see
http://www.sco.com/cgi-bin/ssl_reference?108070). Take a look at
http://www.sco.com/vision/products/sqlretriever/ for more information
and a downloadable eval. There are vendors who do supply native C-ISAM
drivers as well.

Does Alan recommend SCO SQL Retriever on comp.kitchentools.coffemakers
also? Talk about a "When all you have is a hammer, everything starts
to look like a nail!" mindset!
