select column format "####.####" possible?

Dear net, I am trying to do something like: select x.decimal_value format "####.####" from x I know that "using" rather that "format" does not work either. I have been told that something like this is possible using some undocumented feature but I don't know what it is. Yes I know that I can do this programmatically but I need to do it this way.
