Raja wanted to measure a database's size and ran a query summing pe_size from systabnames/sysptnext, getting 19,425,058 — asking whether that figure was bytes. Respondents explained the value is in pages, not bytes, and that the page size depends on the platform (commonly 2K on Linux, 4K on AIX). Since Raja was on AIX, the size is 19,425,058 * 4096 bytes (not * 4). Raja accepted this answer, so the thread is resolved.

Hi,
I have to find how big is the database ( size of the database ).
I have the following query and its output :
select dbsname,sum( pe_size ) total_pages
from systabnames, sysptnext
where partnum = pe_partnum
group by 1
order by 2 desc
No dbsname total_pages
1 db1 19425058
Does this mean that the size of the database is 19425058 bytes ?
Thanks in Advance.
With Regards,
Raja.

What is the page size of the OS that you are operating on?
Typically Linux is 2K and AIX is 4K page size and then you do the math
from there to calculate size allocated.
