Now there's a chance we won't be entirely extinct... :-) I find that, for the majority of my customers, SE is perfectly adequate, simple and performs well. Even OWS is a nightmare to administer *by*comparison*. It's all very well for us in the technical department to forget that while we can deal with and enjoy the innovations of the DSA range, most of our users are still relatively computer illiterate and approach the technology with trepidation. But this is all entirely academic, because the feeling I got from my last few off-line discussions with some people at Informix was that 4GL and SE were being relegated to the ash heap of history... :-(( ATTENTION INFORMIX: There are still uncounted millions to be made in providing simple, stable solutions to clients who don't need Universal Servers, parallel data query, 24x7, bazillion-user, multi-CPU systems. The effort in supporting SE and 4GL at this stage must be neglible. IMNSHO, you will discard these products at your peril!! > If you're serious, I suggest you're seriously out of touch with where an > awful lot of peoples' systems are. Amen. IT is becoming more and more important, but that still doesn't mean that everyone is running systems which require DSA. The revenue you get out of selling 1000's of "small" SE sites would be far more profitable than the R&D-intensive, high-maintenance, high-support business of selling DSA. I'm not for a moment suggesting that SE is more important for Informix than DSA, but it still has a vital role to play in Informix's future. IS ANYBODY AT INFORMIX LISTENING? -- Ciao, Billy Nose to the ground and ear to the grindstone in: Johannesburg "...but apart from that, Mrs Kennedy, how was the parade?"
