Yes, IDS is compatible with Ubuntu, I have run various versions of IDS on Ubuntu from 8.04 through 9.10 without any trouble. The missing library holds the Linux Dynamic Loader which IDS needs to run. It's usually in the libc package. Go into your package manager (usually synaptics) look at the 'base system' and 'development' (don't remember where it lives) and install any C library packages that are not installed. IB it's part of the libc package, but I'm no Linux guru. There's a note on the web about manually linking ld-linux.so from another version specific name, but I've never had to do that. One thing, when you downloaded the developer edition, did you get the 32bit release or the 64bit release? You can run 32bit software on a 64bit Linux, but not the other way around. Art Art S. Hi, Check out https://www.ibm.com/developerworks/mydeveloperworks/blogs/gbowerman/entry/one_cl ick_ids_install_for_ubuntu_has_arrived?lang=en_us It has a section on how to install on Ubuntu 9.10, i.e. a quote from Alexander Koerner: "In order to install IDS in Karmic Koala (9.10) you need to a) manually download and install the libstdc++5 from here http://packages.ubuntu.com/jaunty/i386/libstdc++5/download and b) add the Ubuntu 8.04 partner repository (deb http://archive.canonical.com/ubuntu hardy partner) to your preferred Ubuntu installer (e.g. Synaptic). Then select e.g. informix-ids-demo, start the installation and relax... ;-)" Regards Guy ________________________________ From: debadatta <mishra.dd@gmail.com> To: ids@iiug.org Sent: Thu, December 17, 2009 12:08:21 AM Subject: ids developer edition-11.5 -unbuntu karmic koala [18411] Hi Please let me know if these two (ids developer edition-11.5 -unbuntu karmic koala 32 bit) are compatible?
